An event…
Until today, it was against the rules for the PC (USA) to ordain an LGBTQ person who was not celibate. Until today. Today, a majority was reached in favor of deleting the paragraph from the Book of Order that includes this rule. This has nothing to do with music. But it is a huge thing for my denomination, and there is a lot of celebrating going on around the country because of the church finally reaching this decision. You can probably guess why I care. I just got off the phone with my liaison from my Committee on Preparation for Ministry. In about a month, I will officially be an Inquirer, and in two years, if all goes well, I will force you to refer to me as Reverend. Say a prayer, if you do that, that everything goes smoothly in this process! And join me in the celebration of the PC (USA) taking this step toward equal rights!
